Project Description
First off, printmaking is a form of printing that allows multiple copies and versions to be created and distributed to the masses. In the "Prints Prints Prints!" project we created prints using multiple methods. Over the period of a couple weeks, we were able to explore and experiment creating and designing our prints. We were given the option of creating several forms of printmaking. For example, relief prints, screen prints, mono-prints, lithographs, and intaglios. The basis behind all of the students' proofs and final pieces was to use symbolism within each print to reflect ourselves and further explore who we are, inside and out.

Process
To create my final prints I started by getting inspiration through pictures of prints that my art teacher supplied. This allowed me to figure out what I wanted in the print that I was soon going to create. For example, I liked the idea of using a big portion of negative space and making the focal point full of large details with smaller detailed accents. I then sketched out an image that I liked on to the soft block and immediately started using the carving tools to carve away the lining. Once I finished carving, I made a proof print by making an even layer of block printing ink on plexiglass and then continued to use the brayer to roll an even layer onto my carved soft block. I finished my first proof then I ask for feedback from my peers and art teacher. My art teacher recommended adding more leaves that add more negative space and carve out the extra negative space I left plain on the soft block. I then made these changes (refer to picture labeled proof above) and made another proof. I liked the third proof I printed and decided that I was going to move on to making final prints by experimenting using Chine Colle and A la Poupee techniques. This is where my creativity took off and I tried all sorts of methods to create the best looking final prints.
