Look @ Me Now
The Look @ Me Now project enabled us to learn more about our own identities through writing multiple paragraphs about our past, present, and future. We also got to learn about our peers identities and develop a class culture and relationship. “We know what we are, but not what we may be.” ― William Shakespeare

If you could change something about this project, what would it be?
- I dove into the Look @ Me Now project expecting it not to be a challenge, but as I started the project I realized I was wrong. Writing about yourself and your life is a lot harder than it seems. When it comes to putting you thoughts into words and writing I struggle, so pouring my life into these writing pieces was a challenge. I designed my project and found pictures with ease, but when it comes to writing that’s another story. I feel like I have always had trouble writing. In the past, whenever I got a writing paper back it was usually marked up with red ink, and I mean everywhere. Now I feel a little more comfortable writing, but I am not completely confident in my writing skills.
What was the easiest part of this project?
- The easiest part of this project was finding the pictures that went along with some of my writing pieces. I absolutely love photos. Photos are snapshots of memories that you can keep forever. Finding these photos was actually a delight because I browsed through multiple different photos kicking up memories that I had most recently forgotten.
How comfortable did you feel during your presentation?
- I was extremely comfortable while presenting my Look @ Me Now project. I am confident in my beliefs and in my passions. When it comes to sharing these topics I have no problem. My writing pieces were not extremely personal, but they portrayed my life. I am sort of an open book. I do not really like to keep information about me a secret because then it feels almost like gossip. I share things that need to be said and don't share things that are unnecessary.
Did you receive critique and feedback from anyone (teacher, parent, classmate, etc)? If so, who? Was the feedback helpful?
- I received feedback from Maddison Perales and Sophia Morrison. Their feedback really helped me to add more meaning into my writing pieces. As well as, helped me to finish my writing pieces by giving me ideas for some of the harder topics like irony and flashback. Irony was the hardest of the writing topics for me to write. I could not think of anything ironic in my life. Sophia and Maddi let me read their irony pieces plus they gave me some other examples. This helped me to take another approach, but still did not lead me to my topic for irony. Then Sophia started listing the traits that I have and then my topic for irony fell into place. Thanks to Sophia and Maddi I was able to finish my Look @ Me Now writing pieces and make sure they had meaning and represent who I am.
Did you provide kind, specific, and helpful feedback in the peer review session? Who did you assess? Explain.
- I feel I provide kind, specific, and helpful feedback to Madison Perales during the peer review session. I tried to be as specific as possible while giving Maddi suggestions and ideas. When we conducted our peer review session we were in the very first stages of our writing, so I gave a lot more suggestions that literal critique. For example, I gave a suggestion on Maddi’s setting writing piece. Maddi setting was a collages of people, places, and things. My suggestion was to find one place to write about that had all of the things in her setting college. Overall I feel I provide kind, specific, and helpful feedback that allowed Maddi to improve her writing pieces.
Do you think you were on task for the vast majority of the time given in class to work on writing and construction? Explain.
- I believe I was on task for almost all of the time allotted to work on the Look @ Me Now project. For a majority of the days I asked to work outside on the couches to be able to focus in a quiet more secluded area. This enabled me to double my work progress in a shorter amount of time. By taking the measures to put myself in an area I could focus I feel I was able to use my time wisely.
What grade do you think you deserve? Why?
- I believe I deserve an A+ on the Look @ Me Now project. I feel I deserve an A+ because I pushed through my challenges of writing, was able to receive feedback, changed my writing depending on the feedback, gave feedback to others, and use the time allotted for the project wisely. I also put full effort into this project by furthering my project’s look and meaning at home on my own time. Overall I feel I deserve an A+ because I worked extremely hard on this project and am proud of my final product.
If you could change something about this project, what would it be?
- If I could change one thing about my Look @ Me Now project I think I would change the canvas I chose to display my project. I used a poster board as my canvas. I would've liked to use something a little more representative of my personality like a book, teapot, beach volleyball, or maybe even a cooking pot with origami food inside. I think I could of been a little more creative with the canvas I chose, but I am overall still very proud of my Look @ Me Now project.
