Economics
In the economics project we learned about true economics. We did not just learn about money and opinions, we learned about the thought process to utility. As a class we read The Invisible Heart and made P.E.A Videos as a collection of our learning.
The Invisible HeartThe Invisible Heart is a book about an economic romance, showing two different perspectives. The perspective of an English/Literature teacher, Laura, and an Economic teacher, Sam. Many example were show through the eyes of Laura and Sam creating contradictory arguments. For instance, one example in the book was called The Nut Room. If you were given a room of free pistachios, to go into when ever you want, but the catch would be you would have to leave all the empty pistachio shells in the room. Would it be worth it? Laura's view (English/Literature teacher): You would be saving money, yes. Sam's view (Economic teacher): For the first couple days it might be nice, but the more pistachios you eat, the more empty shells making it harder and harder overtime to find pistachios. Would you waste three hours to find a couple pistachios when you can walk over to the store and by a bag of pistachios for three dollar in five minutes? What is worth more, time or money? Time. The Nut Room is not worth it. As you can tell Sam and Laura's view are very different. By seeing both views I was able to get a better understanding of the concept of economics.
