Holocaust
During the Holocaust project we learned about the Holocaust, but also Jewish life before the Holocaust. We wanted to incorporate and celebrate all the good things that Jewish people did. We did many Iwitness activities and read biographies about people who were enslaved in concentration camps.
IWitness
IWitness is a website available to the public that allows students or other persons to go through archives of Jewish survivor testimony. The two main IWitness activities we did was a Wash Rinse Don't Repeat Video and a Gypsy Sound memorial. To watch my Wash Rinse Don't Repeat Video or listen to my Gypsy Sound Memorial click the buttons below. Another smaller activity we did was either to create a collage or poem based on inner strength, outward resistance, I created a poem. My poem is on the page below, under the buttons.
The True Meaning of Resistance
When living in limbo within the camps of Auschwitz
There is a thin line between life and death
There is a victory in keeping your humanity when being downgraded to a monstrous creature
To find the courage “to live for now, and be positive” defies the Nazi supremacy
Using ingenuity to keep the spirits of the people in the camp alive
“If you resist to evil you will not break your spirit”
“These other people might break your heart, but no one can break your spirit, just yourself”
Having the persistence to constantly fight the fear
And the bravery to spread kindness
Creating hope as an obstacle between the Nazi supremacy and one’s self
Hope never dies, it only fades
True resistance is not violence, but the will to live through the terror of Auschwitz
