Discovery Street
The Discovery Street project was the first project of 9th grade Humanities. Through out this project we were trying to create a class culture. We went on a 9th grade retreat, learned about cultures around the worlds, wrote writing pieces, and created presentations. The 9th grde retreat was a camping trip the entire 9th grade went on for two days. We cooked, explored, hiked, sat around camp fires, and went through work shops together. Overall we came together to make connections and bonds to create our class culture. For one week of school our world cultures class was and interactive culture week. We learned dances, made food, wrote writing pieces, and looked at art that was from different cultures around the world. Another activity we did in class was write where I am from poems and cultural autobiographies. We were also given the opportunity to share our poems at Barns and Nobles for a mini exhibition. The last thing we did too sum up the project were cultural ignite talks. Ignite talks are small one minute presentations with slides that switch every 15 seconds. Overall we completed a lot of activities and adventures to create out 9th grade class culture.
